Abstract

In the mainly German debate concerning whether Sunday services should be replaced by other programs, it is still vague what ideas are associated with the demands for change and how these could be established based on sound theological reasoning. This article outlines the main lines of discussion and offers criteria for examining the proposals from a Lutheran perspective, as these are neither to be dismissed from the outset nor is it to be expected that such changes would automatically revitalize church life.
