Abstract

The article analyses literary texts by the Austrian writer Peter Rosegger († 1918) with regard to descriptions of the liturgy in the rural context of his time. In Rosegger's texts, descriptive sources can be found for the celebration of mass, pilgrimages, the celebration of Christmas, the liturgy surrounding death and burial as well as for the popular piety of the region. This not only provides insights into the history of the liturgy, but also into the subjective experience of liturgy of the people.
